Picture a working day spent on the road: a company vehicle, a phone and a full set of tools, heading out to customer sites to swap cracked windscreens and fit automotive glass. That is the core of this Auto Glazier role, based out of Kalgoorlie and serving Western Australia's mining and industrial sectors.
Jobs range from light vehicles to commercial trucks and heavy mining machinery. You can pick a residential arrangement or FIFO, and the earning potential is strong. The employer wants an experienced Automotive Glazier who is happy running the day without someone looking over their shoulder.
South African tradespeople should keep trade certificates and references close, because trades are usually assessed again for Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive to customer locations and carry out mobile glazing work on site
- Fit replacement windscreens and other automotive glass on light vehicles, commercial trucks, heavy machinery and mining equipment
- Check what each glazing job needs before starting, then cut and prepare the glass for fitting
- Take out damaged windscreens safely and without wasting time
- Plan and order your own daily jobs with little supervision, putting customer and operational needs first
- Keep customers and the team informed, and finish every job to a high standard
- Look after your tools, equipment and company vehicle, and stick to every safety and site procedure
Requirements & Eligibility
- A minimum of 2 years' hands-on automotive glazing experience, covering light vehicles, trucks and heavy equipment
- Holds a Certificate III in Automotive Glazing Technology
- Skilled at cutting automotive glass, with close attention to detail
- Manages time well and can work autonomously or as part of a team
- Clear spoken communication and a reliable, trustworthy character
- Able to obtain a National Police Clearance and pass a pre-employment medical
- Willing to take part in ongoing drug and alcohol screening
- ADAS calibration experience is advantageous
- Working at Heights, EWP and Forklift tickets are also advantageous
