The work ranges from small repairs to big restoration and accident-damage jobs, so you need to handle many kinds of vehicle refinishing with confidence. Paint is Glasurit, and colour matching has to be spot on. South African panel shop painters should keep their trade certificate and some before-and-after photos of their work ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Look over each surface and decide what preparation it needs, then prep panels and vehicle bodies for refinishing
- Sand, mask and prime ready for paint
- Mix and spray automotive paint and clear coats on both small and large repairs
- Get colour matches accurate and finishes consistent, using Glasurit paint products and systems
- Run spray painting equipment safely
- Check finished jobs for defects and flaws, and fix finishing problems where needed
- Keep the workshop and equipment clean and in order
- Work closely with the rest of the repair team
Requirements & Eligibility
- Qualified Automotive Spray Painter
- Relevant hands-on time in the vehicle repair industry, competent on both small and large-scale repairs
- Strong understanding of automotive refinishing techniques and experience with professional paint systems
- Close attention to detail
- Committed to quality workmanship
- Positive, professional attitude, and works well in a team
- Flexible about what the workshop needs
- Strong reliability and a sense of personal responsibility
