Wheel Aligner/ Tyre Fitter

Fitting rubber on a work ute in the morning, lining up a 4WD after tea and squeezing in a couple of light services before close: that is a normal day in this busy Ipswich, Brisbane workshop.

The Queensland business wants a Tyre Fitter / Wheel Aligner who has really done the work, across tyres, alignments and general automotive servicing. What counts is practical skill, turning up on time and producing safe, accurate work job after job.

Sponsorship may be open to applicants with the right qualifications and industry experience that can be checked. Have your trade certificate and references ready, and expect South African qualifications to be looked at closely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fit tyres to passenger, commercial and 4WD vehicles, including on standard and aftermarket rims
  • Check and adjust wheel alignment on cars and 4WDs
  • Handle light and medium servicing and maintenance on vehicles
  • Look over tyres, wheels and related parts, then sort out any problems you find
  • Get workshop jobs done quickly without letting quality slip, working towards workshop KPIs and agreed completion times
  • Follow safe work procedures and the workshop's safety rules
  • Own your work, doing it accurately and neatly whether or not anyone is watching
  • Keep tools, gear and your bay clean and tidy, and lend teammates a hand with general workshop tasks when needed
  • Speak to customers and colleagues in a courteous, professional way

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Certificate III in Automotive or an equivalent qualification
  • Automotive industry experience that you can demonstrate and that can be verified, including real workshop time and technical skill
  • Practical tyre fitting and wheel alignment experience, covering passenger, commercial and 4WD tyres
  • Has fitted tyres to aftermarket wheels
  • Hands-on understanding of automotive repairs and maintenance
  • Fit enough to handle and lift tyres
  • Puts safety, accuracy and quality workmanship first
  • Self-managing, dependable, on time and professional
  • Communicates well, works well in a team and manages time to hit deadlines in a busy workshop
  • Current manual driver's licence
  • Sponsorship available for suitably qualified candidates with the required experience
