Sous Chef, Senior Chef de Parties, Bartenders, Servers & Cellar Door Assistants

Key Responsibilities

  • Sous Chef – help run the whole kitchen, lead and coordinate staff during service, back up the Head Chef with daily management, and train and develop junior chefs
  • Sous Chef – deliver menu items to set standards, run an allocated section, organise mise en place and shift prep, hand over clearly between shifts, suggest new dishes, watch stock and ingredient use, help with food costing, inventory and section ordering, uphold food safety and workplace health and safety, complete temperature and other compliance checks, keep a clean, efficient station and encourage professional teamwork
  • Senior Chef de Partie – run an assigned section, prepare and execute dishes to menu specs, get mise en place done before service and keep shift handover notes accurate
  • Senior Chef de Partie – work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chefs, support and help train less experienced cooks, contribute to dish development, keep an eye on stock and help with ordering and inventory, uphold food hygiene, safety and kitchen compliance procedures, keep the section clean and organised, communicate well with the kitchen and manage your workload in busy periods
  • Bartender – set up the bar before service and close it down at the end of the shift, make cocktails to standard, serve wine and beer, and get drinks out efficiently and professionally
  • Bartender – keep bar stock at the right level, help with stock counts and keg changes, keep the bar presentable and clean, do cleaning and fridge temperature checks, take payments accurately, make coffee where required, answer guest questions, pass complaints or concerns to the Duty Manager, flag shortages and keep service focused on guests
  • Servers – greet guests, give attentive table service, serve food and drinks professionally, learn the menus and drinks list in depth and describe dishes and ingredients accurately
  • Servers – follow the venue's order of service, keep track of guest needs throughout the visit, report service issues to the Duty Manager, keep tables clean and tidy, take payments accurately, suggest suitable extras, complete daily and weekly cleaning, follow responsible alcohol service procedures and work closely with the kitchen, bar and front-of-house
  • Cellar Door Assistants – greet guests and host wine tastings, get to know the wines on offer and talk about them and the tasting experiences with confidence, and set up the tasting area
  • Cellar Door Assistants – handle opening and closing, keep the guest area clean, take payments accurately, restock products and displays, answer enquiries, promote products and venue experiences, help with private and group tastings, support tours and special experiences, work towards individual and team sales goals and keep the guest experience professional and engaging

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Sous Chef needs: a relevant culinary qualification or equivalent practical experience, at least 3 years in a similar senior kitchen role, proven kitchen leadership and a strong grasp of professional food preparation and service
  • Sous Chef needs: experience running a kitchen section, knowledge of food safety and workplace health and safety, the ability to train and support junior team members, strong communication and organisation, composure under pressure, a verifiable employment history, supporting evidence of qualifications and relevant experience, and eligibility for New Zealand employment and applicable sponsorship requirements
  • Senior Chef de Partie needs: at least 3 years of relevant professional kitchen experience, a relevant culinary qualification or equivalent practical experience, proven ability to manage a kitchen section, and strong menu preparation and execution skills
  • Senior Chef de Partie needs: knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards, experience supporting junior kitchen staff, good communication, teamwork and time management, efficiency in busy service, a verifiable employment history, supporting evidence of qualifications and practical experience, and eligibility for New Zealand employment and applicable sponsorship requirements
  • Bartender needs: at least 1 year of relevant bartending experience in a professional bar and practical knowledge of cocktails, wine and beer; barista skills are an advantage
  • Bartender needs: strong customer service, good communication and people skills, accurate payment handling, knowledge of responsible alcohol service, efficiency in a busy venue, a verifiable employment history, supporting evidence of relevant skills and experience, and eligibility for New Zealand employment and applicable sponsorship requirements
  • Servers need: at least 1 year of relevant hospitality experience, including professional food and beverage service, plus strong customer service and good knowledge of hospitality service standards
  • Servers need: confidence explaining the menu, strong people and teamwork skills, a professional, welcoming manner, good time management, steady service quality in busy periods, a verifiable employment history, supporting evidence of relevant hospitality experience, and eligibility for New Zealand employment and applicable sponsorship requirements
  • Cellar Door Assistants need: at least 1 year of relevant hospitality, wine or customer service experience, strong communication and guest engagement, and the ability to learn and explain product information
  • Cellar Door Assistants need: a professional service approach, confidence running tastings and talking with guests, good sales and product knowledge, accurate payment handling, the ability to work towards individual and team targets, a verifiable employment history, supporting evidence of relevant experience and skills, and eligibility for New Zealand employment and applicable sponsorship requirements
