Key Responsibilities
- Cook quality bistro-style meals to a steady standard, owning each plate from prep to presentation and watching dishes at every stage
- Bring ideas for menus, dishes and the weekly specials
- Plan food needs, help estimate food and labour costs, and order and manage supplies
- Use the right cooking methods and professional techniques, and show others how it is done
- Coordinate prep with managers, the kitchen team and front-of-house staff
- Keep food safety, hygiene and cleanliness high and in line with hygiene rules
- Help train and develop kitchen staff when needed
- Handle storage, preserving and freezing where it applies, and keep your station and the kitchen organised and efficient
- Work well in a busy team and help keep the workplace positive, respectful and inclusive
- Keep quality and pace steady when service is busy
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 1 year of professional Chef experience
- Commercial kitchen experience you can demonstrate
- Proven at preparing and cooking quality food, with good hands-on cooking and prep skills
- Solid understanding of food safety and hygiene
- Keeps food quality consistent in busy services
- Confident team player with strong communication and coordination at work
- Follows set kitchen procedures and standards
- Creative with menu ideas and weekly specials
- Professional and dependable
- Works efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality setting
- Genuine hospitality work history that can be verified, with supporting evidence where required
