A modern casual dining kitchen in Pinkenba, Brisbane is looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join its professional team in Queensland, Australia.
Day to day you will lead by example on the line, turn out modern dishes and back up the senior chefs. The employer wants a proven history in commercial kitchens, strong hands-on cooking and the discipline to hold quality through every service.

Key Responsibilities
- Set the standard on the line every day
- Cook and plate modern dishes to a high, steady standard, using a wide range of professional techniques
- Keep taste, plating and portions the same every time
- Work in step with the brigade through service and help plan prep, production and service
- Keep the kitchen moving smoothly when volumes are high
- Check the quality of food and prep
- Follow the rules on food safety, hygiene and workplace safety, and keep the kitchen clean, orderly and professional
- Back up senior chefs in running the kitchen day to day
- Build a team spirit that is positive, cooperative and driven to perform
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent recognised qualification
- Minimum 1–3 years of commercial kitchen experience, including time as a Sous Chef, Senior Chef or in a comparable role
- Strong technical cooking knowledge and hands-on kitchen skill
- Demonstrated record of producing quality modern cuisine
- Works quickly and consistently under pressure
- Communicates well and works as part of a team, with good organisation and time management
- Well presented and dependable
- Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and OH&S requirements
- Available for flexible shifts across a 7-day roster, evenings included
- Can provide professional employment referees with current contact details; visa sponsorship can form part of the employment pathway
