Aluminium Fabricator

Hawera, in Taranaki, is home to a growing manufacturer making window and door systems for residential and commercial jobs, and it is adding Aluminium Fabricators to the line. The ask is simple: genuine workshop experience and work that comes out accurate and well finished, every time.

Expect to be part of an organised production crew, working with aluminium parts, production machines and fiddly assembly. Precision, care and sticking to the set process are what keep the line moving and the quality up.

If you fabricated aluminium in South Africa, keep payslips or employer letters that confirm how long you did it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate the aluminium parts that go into windows and doors, then put the finished products together to spec
  • Take precise measurements of stock and components
  • Saw aluminium and timber using the workshop's machines, and drill and punch each part with care
  • Install glass and wedge units as part of the build
  • Look over each completed unit to confirm it is accurate and up to standard
  • Prep finished goods for dispatch and lend a hand on delivery runs when required
  • Handle all workshop gear, tools and machines safely
  • Look after your bench, the equipment and the vehicles so everything stays clean and in order
  • Follow the written manufacturing steps so output and quality never slip
  • Get allocated work done inside the set timeframes
  • Comply with health and safety rules at work
  • Cooperate with the rest of the production crew

Requirements & Eligibility

  • At least 12 months' practical experience fabricating aluminium, plus demonstrated time in a manufacturing environment or workshop
  • Handles fabrication machinery and tools with confidence
  • Accurate when measuring and cutting, and capable of drilling, punching and assembling aluminium parts
  • Knows what quality-control standards demand
  • Follows set production steps
  • Precise, with a strong eye for detail
  • Can physically lift loads heavier than 20kg
  • Turns up on time, dependable and accountable, bringing a positive outlook and solid work ethic
  • Productive alongside others and fine to work solo when required
  • Open to learning and adjusting to workplace processes
  • Able to demonstrate relevant, genuine work history
  • Eligible for New Zealand employment or applicable sponsorship support
