Expect your trade papers and work history to be checked. If you hold a South African trade certificate in boilermaking or welding, keep it with your references, since trades are usually assessed again for Australia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cut, drill, grind and otherwise prepare materials, then fabricate and assemble steel components to the project brief
  • Weld and do boilermaking work across a range of workshop jobs
  • Read technical drawings, measurements and fabrication specs
  • Run the relevant workshop machines and equipment
  • Check quality at each stage of fabrication, and sort out any fabrication problems that come up
  • Work safely next to other trades and workshop staff, following every health and safety rule
  • Keep tools, equipment and your work area in good shape
  • Help keep the team positive and productive

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A recognised trade qualification in Boilermaking, Welding or Fabrication
  • Hands-on workshop experience that is relevant to the role
  • Proven skills in steel fabrication and welding, and able to make sense of technical drawings and measurements
  • Trade qualifications and employment history that are relevant and can be verified
  • Puts safety and quality first
  • Communicates well and works as part of a team
  • Turns up reliably and gets assigned work done
  • Overseas candidates may be considered where the sponsorship and visa requirements are met
