Boilermakers & Pipefitters

One week you are in the workshop cutting and fitting pipe spools; the next you are on site for a shutdown at a resources or energy plant. This Bunbury-based contractor in Western Australia's South West needs experienced Boilermakers and Pipefitters for structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) fabrication and maintenance work.

Many South African boilermakers hold a trade certificate, often called a red seal, and a trade is usually assessed again before working in Australia, so have your certificate and welding records in order.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate and install structural steel, and fabricate, assemble and fit industrial piping systems
- Weld to approved procedures and industry standards
- Fix and maintain pressure vessels, tanks and structural parts
- Read engineering drawings and fabrication plans and work from them
- Split your time between workshop fabrication and installation on site, including shutdown and maintenance jobs
- Check finished components so they meet quality standards
- Run fabrication gear and power tools safely, and work in confined spaces and at heights when required
- Stick to health and safety procedures on every job and keep your work area clean and tidy
- Work alongside supervisors and project crews, and complete project paperwork and reports as needed
Requirements & Eligibility
- Australian trade qualification or recognised overseas equivalent in Boilermaking or Pipefitting
- Demonstrated structural, mechanical and piping fabrication experience, including past work on industrial or mining projects
- Able to pass 3G or 4G MMAW and FCAW welding tests
- Current Working at Heights certification and current Confined Space certification
- High Risk Work Licence with EWP endorsement
- Construction White Card
- Sound knowledge of safe work practices on site
- Can read and make sense of technical drawings
- Communicates well and works well in a crew
- Able to pass a pre-employment medical, which includes drug and alcohol screening
