Good numbers here come from the basics done well: disciplined husbandry, careful monitoring, tight biosecurity and a team that is led properly. You will lean on your practical experience to keep breeder stock healthy, hit production targets and find ways to lift the farm's performance. Key Responsibilities
- Take charge of how the breeder farm runs and performs every day
- Direct flock work by the farm's set production procedures
- Watch production indicators, flock results and the health of the birds
- Use tried-and-tested husbandry methods so breeder stock stays top quality
- Keep biosecurity, hygiene and disease prevention tight, and make sure welfare requirements for the animals are met without fail
- Lead the farm crew, supervise them and help them develop
- Decide who does what each day and coordinate the farm's activities
- Pin down production problems and fix them with practical corrective action
- Keep records and farm paperwork accurate, and write reports on the flock and on farm operations
- Find chances to boost productivity, efficiency and consistency, working with senior management towards the agreed production objectives
- Encourage accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement across the farm
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 5 years working hands-on in poultry production
- A track record of managing or supervising poultry farms, which you can demonstrate
- Strong, practical breeder poultry production know-how, backed by a sound grasp of flock management and husbandry
- Knows animal health, biosecurity and disease prevention, and understands welfare standards and industry requirements for animals
- Has proven they can lead, supervise and develop people on a farm
- Strong at planning, organising and managing time
- Can make sense of production data and spot where performance is slipping
- Strong communicator with solid reporting skills
- Solves practical problems on the farm, as demonstrated in past roles, and takes a proactive line on improving production
- Committed to biosecurity, quality standards and animal welfare
- Can demonstrate and verify relevant work history and technical capabilities
- Prepared to relocate to NSW; sponsorship is on offer for the right candidate
