Hairdresser Barber Beautician

Foils and balayage, barbering and grooming, brows, lashes and facials: whatever you do best, salon teams in New Zealand are looking for experienced Hairdressers, Barbers, Beauty Therapists and Hair & Beauty specialists.
What matters is genuine time in the industry and real ability. Be ready to show your qualifications, hands-on skills and work history so your profile can be matched to a suitable salon. Advanced colour, modern cutting, barbering, beauty therapy or a blend of specialist services can all open the right door. Openings are spread around the country, with roles in the Auckland and Waikato regions depending on what each business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Work within your own speciality, whether that is hair, barbering or beauty, and keep the quality high
- Chat through what each client wants, then suggest the services, salon products and at-home care that suit them
- Cut, style, blow-dry and do hair-ups for both men and women
- Handle colour from roots and global tints to foils, highlights and lowlights, as well as balayage, ombré, toning and colour correction
- Where you hold the right qualification, do keratin, nanoplasty, Hair Botox and other smoothing work, along with straightening, perms and other chemical services
- Look after men's grooming and barbering where the salon offers it
- Do threading, waxing, facials and other beauty work
- Shape and tint brows and lashes and fit lash extensions where qualified
- Keep the salon spotless and hygienic and follow health and safety rules
- Make every client feel welcome and keep them coming back for years
- Look the part, behave professionally and work smoothly with colleagues when the salon is flat out
- Keep learning so your techniques stay current
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience preferred
- You hold a relevant industry qualification and/or can show professional salon experience, with technical skill that fits the role you apply for
- You work confidently with modern hairdressing, barbering and/or beauty techniques and can prove your hands-on experience
- You consult well with clients and are great at customer service and getting along with people
- You are professional, dependable and smartly presented
- You can work on your own and still pull your weight in a team
- Quality, hygiene and professional standards matter to you, and you want a long career in hair and beauty
- You can provide evidence of relevant qualifications and professional experience when required
- Current New Zealand work rights or eligibility to obtain an appropriate work visa
