Maintenance Fitter

When a conveyor stops, production stops, and this Maintenance Fitter is the person who gets it moving again. An established manufacturing operation in Melbourne, Victoria wants a fitter with real hands-on mechanical maintenance experience and the right qualifications.
Candidates must show their trade background, Australian maintenance experience and ability to work safely around production lines. Applicants need to be currently residing in Australia, so this suits South Africans and others already working there.
Eligible candidates must satisfy applicable 482 sponsorship requirements. Have your Certificate III and records of your Australian work ready to send.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep mechanical production equipment, conveyor systems and their components in good working order
- Track down equipment faults and carry out mechanical repairs
- Run preventative maintenance programs
- Respond fast to breakdowns and get equipment running again
- Work on hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
- Check machinery for wear, damage and early signs of failure
- Log maintenance jobs through CMMS and record completed maintenance and repairs
- Coordinate with production staff while maintenance is under way
- Support engineering and maintenance improvement work
- Stay within workplace safety rules and keep equipment at a safe operating standard so production runs smoothly and continuously
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade is essential
- At least 1 year of Australian maintenance experience is essential, along with demonstrated industrial mechanical maintenance experience
- Manufacturing or FMCG experience is highly regarded
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and able to find and fix equipment faults
- Understands preventative maintenance practice
- A demonstrated commitment to safety at work
- A dependable, professional work history, with evidence of relevant qualifications and experience you can provide
- Currently residing in Australia
- Willingness to relocate within NSW
- Eligible candidates must satisfy applicable 482 sponsorship requirements
