Management Accountant

Close the month, build the reports and help steer the budget, with a direct line to the CFO. A long-standing Sydney construction company is adding a Management Accountant to its finance team as its project-driven business expands.
Expect real trust: sensitive numbers, regular contact with senior leaders and a close look at how a mature Australian company makes its commercial calls. Your work will span reporting, budgets, forecasts, cash and finance systems. If you want to prove what you can do and grow into wider commercial work, this is a solid base. Key Responsibilities
- Run the month-end close and reconciliations, and keep the general ledger and financial records correct
- Produce the monthly P&L, balance sheet and cash flow statements
- Dig into the numbers and give management analysis and reports they can act on
- Play a part in the yearly budget, rolling forecasts and overhead planning, and keep watch on financial performance
- Manage cash day to day and feed into cash flow forecasts
- Tighten up finance processes so reports come out more accurate
- Make sure data stays dependable across the accounting systems and their integrations, and that finance systems run efficiently and with integrity
- Team up with the CFO and finance colleagues on commercial and project work
- Collaborate with operations staff in a complex construction business
Requirements & Eligibility
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- CA or CPA qualified, or progressing towards qualification now
- Sound grounding in accounting principles and financial reporting, and hands-on experience running month-end procedures
- Has done management reporting, budgeting or forecasting
- Highly capable in Excel and financial systems
- Can read financial information, pick up issues or opportunities, and stay precise with financial detail
- Communicates clearly and manages stakeholders professionally, across finance and non-finance teams
- Construction or project-based accounting experience is advantageous; Jobpac experience is also advantageous
- Big 4 or mid-tier audit or Business Services people who are strong candidates are encouraged to apply
- Approximately 6–12 months or more of commercial accounting experience may be considered
