Metal Fabricator

Some days you are in the workshop cutting, bending and welding to drawings; on others you are out on site fixing plant or answering a breakdown call. An established industrial engineering and maintenance business in Western Australia wants an experienced Metal Fabricator (Boilermaker Welder) for this full-time job in South Boulder, Kalgoorlie.
It is a practical trade role covering fabrication, welding, assembly, repairs and maintenance, split between the shop floor and the field.
A police certificate is on the list, so South African applicants should start on a SAPS police clearance certificate early.
Key Responsibilities
- Work from engineering drawings, plans and specs, marking out and measuring each job
- Cut and prep structural and mechanical material, then bend and shape the metal
- Build and assemble parts and structures, doing the welding and related processes yourself
- Fix up and modify plant and equipment
- Help maintain both fixed and mobile plant
- Head out to breakdowns and get things running again
- Do fabrication in the workshop and out on site
- Check what you have built for accuracy and quality so it matches the specs and standards
- Run the workshop's machines and fabrication gear
- Do routine upkeep on the machinery
- Work safely to site rules and keep your area tidy and professional
Requirements & Eligibility
- You hold an Australian Recognised Trade Certificate III or an equivalent qualification
- Minimum 3 years full-time experience in Metal Fabrication, with proven Boilermaker/Welder work behind you
- You fabricate and weld to a high standard and read engineering drawings competently
- National Police Certificate
- You pass the pre-employment medical assessment and the drug and alcohol screening
- Construction White Card
- Working at Heights certification obtained within the past 2 years
- Confined Space certification obtained within the past 2 years
- Valid Australian Driver Licence
- You put safety and quality first, communicate clearly and work well in a team
- Australian citizenship, permanent residency or relevant work rights
- Suitable overseas applicants can be offered sponsorship
